Welcome to Week 7 of Remote Learning

Hello Families,

We are now 7 weeks into our remote learning and have about a month left to go. Students are settled into the routine and everyone is working hard together as a team.

Happy mothers day to all of our mothers, thank you for all the sacrifices you make for your children.

The Columbus Team is working hard to put something together for promotion. We don’t know what it will look like yet, but we are hard at work planning a promotion activity for our students. I will share updates with you when I have them.

Remember that multiple opportunities are available for live help if students are struggling with online learning. I offer daily Zoom videos as well as live chat help.

Stay healthy and well, and I look forward to seeing everyone – virtually on zoom or someday in person – again soon.

Week 4 of Remote Learning

Hello Families,

Hard to believe we’re already a month into our Remote Learning. Things are starting to go much smoother now and most students are getting the hang of things. Most of our class was able to attend last week’s Zoom meeting, and I am looking forward to doing another one in the future. Also, most students have submitted their solar system projects, these were very impressive and show the dedication and hard work of the students in our class.

Parents, you can monitor your child’s online learning progress using Google Classroom. If your child has any assignments marked “Missing” you should ask them why they have not completed their work. The district has instructed us to mark students “absent” if they do not participate in online learning (by turning in assignments) at least three times per week. We are waiting for directions regarding grading and report cards.

Please note that this week, there is no school on Friday, as it is Armenian Genocide Commemoration Day. As always, I will keep you informed of any changes to our remote learning situation. Have a great week!

A Message from Mr. Sasse

Dear Families,

For many of us, these last few weeks have been a stressful and difficult time. My first concern is for the health and safety of your student and family, and I hope that all is well in your homes. This week, teachers in Glendale (and around the country) have been having online meetings to plan and prepare for the weeks ahead of “virtual” and “remote” learning. This is new for all of us, and I ask for your patience and understanding while we work through these challenges together. I miss my students, and I look forward to being back in the classroom with them again. This week is considered an “extended spring break” for students based on the district’s guidelines. We will begin remote instruction on March 30th. If you have any questions, concerns, or if you just want to reach me, please contact me. I am available daily via email and ClassDojo from 8am – 3pm.
