For many of us, these last few weeks have been a stressful and difficult time. My first concern is for the health and safety of your student and family, and I hope that all is well in your homes. This week, teachers in Glendale (and around the country) have been having online meetings to plan and prepare for the weeks ahead of “virtual” and “remote” learning. This is new for all of us, and I ask for your patience and understanding while we work through these challenges together. I miss my students, and I look forward to being back in the classroom with them again. This week is considered an “extended spring break” for students based on the district’s guidelines. We will begin remote instruction on March 30th. If you have any questions, concerns, or if you just want to reach me, please contact me. I am available daily via email and ClassDojo from 8am – 3pm.
A special video for Students, from Mr. Sasse:
Good evening families,
As you heard from Dr. Rojas’s phone call, materials and chromebook pickup will be this Wednesday, March 25th. All fifth graders will need to pickup their math workbooks and reading books on this day, as we are not scheduled to return to the classroom for 6 weeks.
To promote “social distancing” , pickup times are by last name.
Please stop by the school during this time. Bring your student and a backpack to bring materials home.
Thank you for your understanding during this transition to remote learning. Remote learning will begin on March 30th. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Please see this important update from Superintendent Dr. Vivian Ekchian regarding extended school closures:
Families: Rest assured that I will do the best that I can to be here to support your student and your family during this difficult time. This will be new, challenging, and scary for many of us, but together we will triumph in this difficult time. As always, I am available via email and ClassDojo to communicate. In the coming days, look for updated information about how fifth grade will proceed with distance learning. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns and I will do my best to address them.
Next week is spring break! Have a safe and wonderful spring break.
Student spring break study packets are due the day we return – no exceptions.
AS OF RIGHT NOW, there are no planned closures in the Glendale Unified School District. Students will return to school on Tuesday, March 24th at the end of spring break as scheduled. If the situation changes, I will update all families as soon as possible.
Please visit the announcements page for the latest updates.
Report cards were sent home today with all students. Please sign and return the envelope. Thank you! 🙂
